What's your favorite all time movie?

Recommended Posts

Guest gracewriter

Is it a comedy?  a horror, a love story, a drama?

What gave me the idea to ask that is I just talked to my neighbor's husband who is a really nice guy and sort of a jock and I never would have dreamed in a MILLION years that his all time favorite movie was the same as mine.

Apparently we are both the romantics in our families.

Anyway, I'd really like to know what yours is and why.

Used to be Star Wars IV, V and VI until Lucas came up with espisodes I, II and II, no w I dont like them as much.

Then The Matrix, but not that much now.

I think Back to the Future I and Terminator II (I can watch those as many times they put them on tv)

Ok...I'll go first and get laughed at...

Last of the Mohicans

Not laughing.  Great movie until the main character said to an indian or settler--can't remember which, "take a left".  Blew the whole movie for me.  Well, not all the whole movie, after all I am a woman of the 70s who loves men with long hair.

IMHO the best star wars movie came out probably before you were born. To think back to 1977 when I was just a kid and never saw anything before like those giant words scrolling across the screne with all those stars in the background during the initial epologue, still malkes me shutter as no one had ever seen graphics like that before anywhere let alone in a movie theater.

For me it was "ZULU."

I held my interest completely through the entire show and I have seen it about five times and could see it another five times before I croak. It's perhaps 30 years old.

They just don't make good movies anymore and I detest movies filled with gutter language. Thats why I told cable vision and dish net work  to take a hike.

Thats the way I am.

Oh I know I know! One of my all time favorites (believe it or not) is Grease. Oh, do I like that movie. I have it on cassette and dvd.

I sing to Grased Lightning in the karaoke and back in 2005 I went to a halloween party dressed as Danny (or at least I tried).

I like Grease as well. But my very favorite is and always will be ' The Wizard Of Oz.' Every time I watch it, I am 10 years old again. I don't think there was a better year for movies than 1939... the golden age.Gone With The Wind,Stagecoach, Dark Victory, Jesse James, the list goes on.

And the 'f' word nowhere to be heard.

Gene Autry was America's Singing Cowboy... Errol Flynn was buckling swash all over the place, and Clark Gable was a national icon.

Just my 2p.

It doesn't have to be Christmas time for me to watch it. It is one of the few DVD's that I own.

If there is a movie that I watch over and over...on a regular basis..it would be "Wallace and Gromit- Curse of the Were-Rabbit"

Every time I watch it. I notice something new. Nick Park is a genius.

Wow ... where does one start?? So many movies, so many reasons ...

Kundun - I love the story and artistry they used.

M/M Smith (2005) - How could you not expect Angelina & Brad to hook-up after that movie?

Tombraider 1 & 2 - I love movies where women kick-butt!

G.I. Jane - same reason as stated above

Mona Lisa Smile - overall great movie

Femme Fatale - because the ending is so unexpected

Serenity - I love SciFi and I loved the (very short lived) Firefly tv series.

Blade Runner - That has got to be the best SciFi of all time.

Willy Wonka (1971) - Who couldn't love that movie? The remake creeped me out.

Watership Down - I love cartoons, even though the first time I saw it I was a little disturbed (I mean fuzzy bunnies fighting??)

300 - Now that is an Epic story.

Lord of Rings trilogy & The Hobbit (cartoon and live action) - I just love those stories.

Ladyhawke - such an awesome period story.

Harry Potter - Because I like the books too.

Best in Show - It's just simply hilarious

A Mighty Wind - Same guys as Best in Show. Just as hilarious.

Il Mare - The original version of The Lake House (waaaaay better than the remake).

Those are just a few off the top of my head
