Upgrading vinylmaster with additional licenses

So, I currently have the the full license vinylmaster ltr and want to upgrade to dsr, however my father in law has an additional ltr license, would my upgrading mess with his license? Would he have to pay to upgrade too, or could he keep his ltr?
