KevinM2 0 Posted November 13, 2020 Hi all. I am trying to get into vinyl cutting and picked up this cutter off Facebook market place really cheap. I’m having trouble with it no responding when I try to send a cut from VinylMaster to it. I’m wondering if it might be a driver issue but I can’t find any identification on what the brand is of this cutter. Does anyone recognize it and could tell me what it is? thanks so much
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted November 13, 2020 It's a Copam. UScutter used to sell them. It seemed to do very well, as a stepper cutter. Did you download the FTDI driver for your Windows version and install it? https://support.uscutter.com/hc/en-us/sections/360007369351-Copam-Vinyl-Cutter-Series 1
slice&dice 2,450 Posted November 13, 2020 It never ceases to amaze me that people buy stuff (really cheap) from random strangers, and don't even check if the thing even functions at all before handing over the cash. Have you seen this cutter in operation by the seller?
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted November 13, 2020 the copam was one of the best stepper motor plotters as it uses a much finer step than the cheaper ones - it had one new flaw and that was the pressure rollers were known to crack after many years of service - I think uscutter probably quit carrying them because it had not been updated for 14 years when they stopped selling it - but with that said as a starter plotter if the pressure rollers work correctly is a great place to start
