slice&dice 2,450 Posted November 6, 2020 In another thread recently, we were talking about 3D printers that USCUTTER had been involved with for a while. Today, I noticed a 3D pen being advertised. Not too expensive, provides a result like the printers (melted plastic comes out of the tip). "Gone are the days, when you drew only in X and Y coordinates. Now, you can also use Z coordinate to extend your drawing canvas of creativity." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72aRKbj4ZIs Anyone have experience with these tools? Just a toy or are there practical crafting creations? The only reason I even mention it here is because of the filaments -- a consumable item, that USCUTTER could handle (they already did at one point). Anyway, thought I could throw this out there, for comments and consideration.
haumana 1,220 Posted November 6, 2020 That pen actually looks like a decent one. I've seen all the 'toy' ones on Amazon - they even have pictures of children crafting with it. https://www.amazon.com/MYNT3D-Junior2-Temperature-Printing-Compatible/dp/B08K8RPZVX/ref=sr_1_20?dchild=1&keywords=3d+printer+pen&sr=8-
darcshadow 1,626 Posted November 9, 2020 Guy I work with has a 3d printer and a pen. The pen typically is just a toy, but he has used it to repair/touchup parts he printed with the 3d printer.
