Titan 3 Tool X and Y Offset axis adjustments

Recommended Posts

When scrolling through the options using the set button on my Titan 3, I see that there is a Tool X adjustment and an Offset Y adjustment selection. What are these used for? I do all of my adjusting through SCUT Pro. Is this for making finer adjustments directly through the machine?

Your cutter is a rebranded Saga and this is from the user manual.  Are these what you are referring to?   Set:to set up function, can change XP/YP, Tool offset, sensitivity.

X-Scale/Y-Scale Don’t change the X-Scale or Y-Scale values as they are used to compensate for wear and tear of the transport belts. Only change these settings, if plots come distorted and you are instructed to do so by a technician.

XP/YP: Don’t need to change.

Sensitivity: For ARMS cutters, this is based on the reflective intensity of the media. Adjustments are made to this setting if your ARMS laser doesn’t detect the alignment markers on the vinyl.

May be so, I'm not entirely sure. They are only displayed as Tool X -5.49 and Offset Y 23.04. If I change the values, and then reset the machine, the numbers go back to the stated value. Was kind of hoping these were for fine adjustments for cutting. I run one piece carbide green star blades that cut way better than the typical Roland cemented blades, but find that I need to adjust the offset in my software a little. I cut a lot of really fine intricate designs and have issues with ears and lifting and was thinking that these settings could be adjusted to stop that from happening.

Maybe you don't have your blade depth set correctly. Too many bad instructions out there using a credit card thickness  or post it notes.  This is just wrong. and we can't get rid of that myth. Lifting vinyl is usually caused by too much blade exposed out of the blade holder. Also use a good vinyl. Detailed designs cut slow.

This is correct way to set your blade depth for any vinyl.  Blade depth must be correct first, before you set your blade offset.

To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and in your hand, firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing. You should just barely see and feel your blade tip out of the blade holder.
