there is a way to get similar results with rayzist or iconics film but be prepared to spend quite a bit for that set up.  something more for you to look into

sandblasting wouldn't really allow for the different shading, unless it was masked correctly, which would be mighty hard for that.

rayzist allows for 1/2 tones like screen printing using a uv resist film - but would be very expensive to do very many - it has a special film, uv light, and they sell very nice sandblast cabinets but I think they have a fancier name for them (around $4K)

Ouch! for that price, one could get a cheap(er) laser engraver. Wowza!
