slice&dice 2,450 Posted March 21, 2020 Hi cutmaster --- sounds like you're encountering some newbie problems! Let's back up and see what you've got happening. First of all, vinylmaster is registered, right? Secondly, you're trying to cut 'an image' -- can we see the file? (upload it as an attachment to your posting). What happens when you just try to cut text? Let's start there and see what we find out.
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted March 21, 2020 If you have never ran a vinyl cutter before, then don't start with cutting a design. First you need to start with the TEST feature and set your vinyl cutter up. That is what the TEST feature is for. You have to set your blade depth, blade offset, and force first. Then type some text on your layout screen directly from the software and cut it. We don't know what kind of design you are cutting or whether it is even a vector design. Practice with typing text first and learn your cutter. This is the correct way to set your blade depth, which must be correct, before you set your other settings. Every cutter has to be fine tuned to cut correctly. This is correct way to set your blade depth. To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing. You should just barely see and feel your blade tip out of the blade holder.
slice&dice 2,450 Posted March 22, 2020 ...and cutmaster apparently has solved this problem all on his own. (Although I do wonder what was happening!)
cutmaster 0 Posted March 22, 2020 im getting scratch mark on the paper. i have a 68 in cutter but im using 12x12 paper so for some reason the rollers are not moving the paper
haumana 1,220 Posted March 22, 2020 if you take the cutter offline, will it allow you to jog the paper back and forth? are the pinch rollers over the grit bar?
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted March 22, 2020 Where are you putting the paper? It needs to be loaded on the far right pinch rollers. Have you read the suggestions posted above?

MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted March 22, 2020 why are you cutting paper? Unless you have the paper on a carrier mat, you will be cutting into the teflon cutting strip, making gouges and scratches. You don't want to be doing that.

You can't cut paper unless it is on a carrier sheet. Say vinyl next time.
haumana 1,220 Posted March 23, 2020 If you're cutting vinyl, but the blade is making slashes in the paper backing, then your blade is set wrong. You need to set the blade properly first and foremost, then from there, adjust the blade force. Members here use the cutter for various things - so if you say your cutter is slashing paper, then all who read your post is under the understanding that you are cutting paper, and if that was the case, then Skeeter is correct in saying that you need a carrier sheet. You will find that when someone brings an issue to this forum, we take the words at face value, and quite literally, because being very specific is usually the best way to get assistance.
