MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted January 31, 2020 Make a square in your cutting software and cut it. What do the corners of the square look like in reference to the pictures that your showing? Show some pics. This is what those pictures are for. Are the corners of your square rounded or sharp corners?
mjpet06 3 Posted February 29, 2020 This is what mine is doing too. The square looks like the first one in the example (protruding corners). I don't understand from the previous comments and questions what the solution is. Thank you for any help!
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted February 29, 2020 This is called Blade Offset and you should be around the 0.25 mm to 0.35 mm start with and adjust from there for most machines.
mjpet06 3 Posted February 29, 2020 I have it at .25 and have adjusted it both higher and lower and it didn't make a difference. Maybe I need to go extreme. I'll try that now....
mjpet06 3 Posted February 29, 2020 No difference. Cut a few from .10 to .90. All are exactly the same.
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted February 29, 2020 Just now, mjpet06 said: I have it at .25 and have adjusted it both higher and lower and it didn't make a difference. I would start by drawing a small square and testing on that. Fonts can be deceptive. Make sure you are in MM not inches too. Are you using an MH Cutter? Does your machine/software allow you to adjust this on the machine control panel or only in the software?
mjpet06 3 Posted February 29, 2020 I did create a square in ai. then expanded it. I'm using a copam 2500. I adjusted it on the machine. Let me check to see if signcut also needs adjusted. Should it change it on the software if adjusted from the machine?
mjpet06 3 Posted February 29, 2020 SignCut was set at .25. I moved both the machine and Signcut to .35, cut the square again and its exactly the same.
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted February 29, 2020 How did you set your blade depth? This is the correct way. It works, Blade depth has to be correct first. To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing. You should just barely see and feel your blade tip out of the blade holder.
mjpet06 3 Posted February 29, 2020 Yes blade depth is set that way. I unplugged the machine from power and the computer and it seems to be cutting correctly now!! FINGERS CROSSED!!! Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted February 29, 2020 If you are using SignCut there are options to decide if you want the program to override the control that is on the machine. Glad it's maybe working. Possibly needed a restart to clear out the old although I have not heard of that. Copam are a good mid level machine that has always had good reviews.
