MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted January 15, 2020 When you got the cutter, did you put a ground wire on it from the cutter to the stand, if you have one? Have you tried the 9 volt battery test? You may have a fried z .chip. You posted before.
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted January 15, 2020 Welcome from the USA sounds like the z-chip fried - usually static zaps them this time of the year if the stand is not grounded to the plotter - if a very old unit the z- chip may be in a socket - the past 2 versions they are soldered in and requires nw mainboard
Mike Roark 0 Posted January 20, 2020 What ground? Did not see anything about grounding the printer in any of the instructions.
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted January 20, 2020 First off lose the word "printer" An MH cutter cuts vinyl. So it is called a vinyl cutter. It does NOT print. Value cutter like the MH are very prone to static problems from the vinyl. The static has to go somewhere or it will fry the Zchip. Then you cannot cut. Run a ground wire from the cutter to your stand. Scratch off a little paint and put a screw and ground wire cutter to stand.
slice&dice 2,450 Posted January 20, 2020 You should have gotten a grounding wire in your accessory box. I think it's green and yellow. Anyway, your cutter does NOT have a bad Z-Chip, Mike, because the electromagnet works on the cutter head and it goes up and down. What you really have to troubleshoot is why the blade tip doesn't actually reach the vinyl material. (see your other thread for advice on that).
