Force needs to changed on same project often

Recommended Posts

I have an issue with the force for my designs using the Titan 3. It seems that in the morning my force needs to be higher but then in the afternoon, I use the same design, same force and it cuts completely through to the vinyl backing. Any ideas why?

if at any point your plotter cuts all the way thru the vinyl you have too much blade exposure - use skeeters blade depth instructions:

From Mz. skeeter and the method used most for accurate blade depth

To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing.

In addition to adjusting blade depth your "design" does not change but the conditions in your cutting area might during the day. So what's probably changing is the temperature or humidity in the room causing some effect to your cut whether that be to the actual vinyl or possibly to the pressure sensing within your machine. I would also consider some high quality blades rather than the bargain bucket blades. A quality blade will cut with much less overall force and the adjustment will be less needed.

For me, if using the same design - the force is determined by what material and color I'm cutting. There is often times that I need to use the same design, but in different colors.
