Drock 0 Posted May 13, 2008 I am still pretty new to sign cutting, and was curious if someone could elaborate on the art of Wet Application. for example, when is the best time to do a wet app. what can you use for the "wet stuff", how long do you need to leave it on before you peel off the mask etc... any suggestions would be great! thanks Droc

Drock 0 Posted May 13, 2008 thanks, that was very helpful! Very interesting, I have been doing dry applications the whole time and had no idea that wet applications are so much more forgiving. thanks again Droc

CyberSultan 6 Posted May 17, 2008 Did some graphics on my car today...and decided to try it wet. I will never do car graphics dry again! No bubbles, easy to position just perfectly, and the basic components of the wetting solution, I got from this forum, worked great (easy to squeegee and took only a few minutes before I could remove the app tape). Then applying a second layer of color was just as easy. I only needed a little solution, so I mixed: 16 oz water 2 Tbs Rubbing Alcohol 4 drops of dish soap This solution worked perfect! showaride 0 Posted May 17, 2008 glad wet app works for you guys. I cant say the same, I mixed like posted here but I cant get the fluid out. scrape like crazy but doesnt work. Still have fuild under the vinyl. using a normal scraper.
firemalt 10 Posted May 17, 2008 Are you using clear app tape?
Guest Terry Posted May 17, 2008 sure sounds like it, I even spray the front of the tape till it almost falls off on it's own. But I try not to get wet on door jam edges. I like it to grab a bit quicker in those areas.
BannerJohn 1,324 Posted May 17, 2008 I agree. He/she is doing something wrong. Maybe not using the right type of squeegee?
Guest Terry Posted May 17, 2008 Yup, one thing I do is at the top of the graphic I wipe it down so the fluid does not keep running down the car under the tape or vinyl.
showaride 0 Posted May 17, 2008 I was doing it on a cars back window. I had one of those white plastic ones I been using with normal cream or whatever transfer tape. I thought I had the fluid out, spent 10 to 15min then spread the tape to losen and still want to come up because the fluid was under vinyl still. Does it help to add more alcohol to mix to dry faster? What tools should I use for the curve? Thanks guys!
firemalt 10 Posted May 18, 2008 I agree. He/she is doing something wrong. Maybe not using the right type of squeegee? He should of used a "gold" squeegee, LOL.

How about using a window squeegee? would that work. Dont want to was anymore vinyl.
