Hi Bill,   Try this - take the entire machine apart (remove the end caps and the top piece) and check if there was damage caused to the "Home Switch" or Kill Switch (a solenoid that has a function of commanding the machine to Stop when the carriage hits it). It probably looks like a metal strip attached to a micro-switch.  (This is an example of what that kill switch may appear like on your unit)
