I tried several product including goof off, goo gone ect. goof off actually etched the plexi. what is the best way to remove existing lettering off of clear plexi? thanks Drock

Drock 0 Posted May 11, 2008 I think I will try the heat technique next time, the only problem is that there are alot of letters and detail, Im afraid it wont be cost effective for the client. he will be changing the signs 3 to 4 times a year. I had an idea to throw by you guys, If I created a "bath", one I could lay the panel down and let it soak in rubbing alchohol. rubbing alchohol doesnt seem to effect the plexi and if very effective on removing the adhesive! thanks again Droc
Benr98 40 Posted May 11, 2008 we think it would fine, since rubbing alcohol is not an etching compound.

BannerJohn 1,324 Posted May 12, 2008 My time = $ Would cost more than new Plexi Dawg Agreed! There is no fast and easy way to remove the lettering. Find a good plexiglass supplier. My time is worth $30 an hour...it would be stupid for me to spend an hour or more removing letters from a piece of plexiglass I could buy for less. If you are charging a customer enough to remove the letters, you should be able to just replace the plexi.
