LPII cutting wonky, speed question too

Recommended Posts

This is driving me nuts today!  SCAL pro 3 keeps crashing, when it send to the LP2 sometimes it will cut right (nothing extravogant just twelve 3"x5" crosses) yet on different cut jobs with same items it will do 3 of the 5 rows fine but then slightly jack up the others by like not completing an entire side of the cross or the plotter will just freeze while SCAL says everything went over ok.

then to top it all off, I'm running at an indicated speed of 500.  I do a test cut from the plotter's control panel and it zips through it lickety split... I cut a design and it is the equivalent of doing a test run at 100...  It sounds like a communication issue between SCAL, the com port, and the plotter but how do i fix it?  I am running reflective here and it's getting costly

The value cutters have a cheap Chinese  chip.   If your using USB,  get a Tripplite Keyspan Adapter  and don't look back.  This has helped hundreds on here.  You can look it up on here.  Tripplite Keyspan Adapter is the brand name and the only brand known to work with a vinyl cutter.   It controls the data sent to the cutter.   Or a serial cable.

Example only.  find the best price.

Does it work with a Mac?

Yes it works with a Mac.    Here is their website info.  The chips in the value cutters are not TRUE USB, like the higher end cutters.  Very flaky,  Some people have no problems, others, all kinds of problems, especially when your cutting a lot of decals at 1 time..  The memory is overloaded and the cutter can't handle it.   Higher end cutters Graphtec, Roland, Summa, with TRUE USB, can handle pretty much what ever you send it.

I like SCALPS but I dont use the same cutter as you so it could be something different...... But with  scalps 3 pro ,It used to happen to me once in awhile but i ended up upgrading to 4 pro and i havent had it happen for a long time.It could just be by luck or they improved 4pro with this issue. But so far in over a year it hasnt done it to me since upgrading..The upgrade to 4pro is worth it .. here is the link to try the download and see what is different from 3 to 4 pro  ... http://www.craftedge.com/products/products_scalpro.html

and here is the upgrade to 4 from 3 link.. $49.00   http://www.craftedge.com/purchase/craftedge/purchase_scal4pro.php
