laser point 2 cutting accross decal

Recommended Posts

so my machine is pretty much new bought it early december 2016 it is now january 11 2017 last night i was cutting on oracal ultra gold leaf and machine went on a rampage about 4 times on me the design only measures 6.5 x 11 and as you can see in the image it just made a few cuts accross up and down. i tried cutting a bigger piece same logo at 22x13.5 and it cut it flawless so i down size to 6.5x11 and again its about 75% done and again starts to cut over the design. i am using a computer with windows xp and using vinyl master v4 with license activated and hooked up with the serial port. when this issue occurs the machine does the cuts accross that its not supposed to after its done doing these sorts triangle shapes it continues on its proper cut path as if nothing happened.

Well just updating this in case someone else runs into this issue I have done some more testing here is what I have done and how.

I installed my pen instead of the blade since my issue is not cutting and I inserted my vinyl upside down basically with the white or blue paper part up and vinyl facing down so the vinyl faces down. I wrote the word TEST 40 times and ran it in one setting and it worked flawlessly as I knew it would immediately I ran the design I've been having issues with and at one point I noticed the transmission being sent to cutter was frozen then in red letters it said WAITTING TO SEND but the cutter was still cutting correctly soon after the transmission began to move and as soon as it began to send that where it moved accros with the pen down and write a cross and back and continue to finish the design. I ran the same program again and it from again this time further more down the progress and it did the lines a cross again at least now I know what's causing the issue now to figure out why is it stopping the sending or freezing. Will report when I find out what's going on.

Just guessing here, but maybe a baud rate problem? Or could be a memory issue, was the test file that you ran, than 137kb?

99% sure its a memory issue--Your simple files had no issues.. that file in gold you are sending is HUGE in data points for that cutter -- I assume you are running USB connection? If so-- its dumping the entire design into the memory - or trying to.

The serial port, using a Keyspan adaptor ( sold by UScutter) will have bi-directional communication -- it will only load enough information that the cutter can hold - then send the remaining - They take a while to setup, but are invaluable for this type of cutter.  I speak from experience - ran a PCUT.

i mentioned above i am running serial port not usb i work with cnc machinery and i know most low budget usb ran achines are better off on serial. with that said i talked to a customer rep and they adviced me that the file wasnt to big to handle for this machine that it more than likely is a communication issue so try to update my drivers and then report back wich is my next move today i will report back here as well incase anyone else has this issue.

This machine gets worst and worst I tried contour cutting 6 3" stickers and it can even do that I did the 4 point calibration since it was off then re checked calibration and x and y were both 0 after calibration so plotter should cut right on the money? WRONG I insert my printed paper I put the laser on all registration point and when it cuts its off on all 6pices by 1/16 to the right check calibration and once again x right on 0 and y right on 0

  • Was your orientation proper for the printed item?  I have made the mistake of placing printed items upside down for files before - even after its cut- try flipping 180 degrees- and cut again- the print will be lost, but you can verify orientation.

It was oriented correctly I found out what the issue was in reguards to the contour cutting problem turns out the blade and laser were not calibrated correctly so I had to manually calibrate it and then re do the offset test and cLibrate that after this was done I finally cut this 6 pieces out now all I need to do is work on installing the updated drivers for my original issue

well some time has passed and i had some time to really dig on whats going on. the issue i belive was my tower i mean it really isnt a powerul tower to begin with just had alot of memory wich i also ket pretty clean well anyway ive been getting  busy lately with designing and sample cutting that i needed to get a lap top to work on the got so i picked up a hp pavilion dv4 i7 quadcore, 8 cores 1tb 8gig ram with beats audio and expanded battery back and gave it a go on the cutter i ran the same design that kept messing up on 8 times not once did it fail or stop loading so pretty much isolated the issue to be my tower wich i originally had running the cutter hope this helps anyone with this issue.
