what am I doing wrong

Recommended Posts

I  have a Graphtec CE6000 and quite honestly I am lost.  I manages to cut things but it seems like lately that I am having lots of problems.  I can not get a crisp cut at all.

Do blades get dull and cause this

Or could my settings be wrong.

THANK YOU in advance for any help you can give me

Welcome aboard Bethann.  It looks like settings to me, but we need a bit more info.

1.  What blade are you using, 45* or 60*?

2.  How old is it, and what have you been cutting with it?

3.  What material is the graphic shown made of?

As for what you have pictured, it looks like offset &/or overcut could be tweaked a bit.  Do a search of those terms and you will find the correct way to assess and fine tune those settings.

Check to verify that no small pieces of vinyl are stuck inside the blade holder (take it all apart and look to see if the blade is spinning freely on the bearings)

Looks to me like you may have too much blade sticking out of your blade holder and possibly too much speed and force / pressure.

I agree with too much blade out as a likely culprit but tips do dull also. If treated nice a good quality blade will last 6 moths to a year of busy work.

You have a nice machine so lets start with your experience with the machine.

That will help give us an idea about what the problem could be.

If you're new at this we can start you from the beginning.

You all are awesome!!  It was a little bit of everything.  You were right...too much blade sticking out, blade needed to be cleaned (excess vinyl stuck in the blade) and I slowed down the speed and reduced the pressure.  Everything together worked.  Thank you all so much!!!
