WickedXtreme 0 Posted June 27, 2016 I am new owner of a uscutter mh. I am currently using a silhouette Cameo for my vinyl cutting. How do I get the images I spent hrs creating in silhouette to import into vinylmaster? I tried converting them to pdf, but that didnt work. I would hate to have to try and redo all the work I have done for the past yr. I cannot upload the image here. It says that I am not permitted to upload this kind of file. Thank You. mrfibble 77 Posted June 27, 2016 i could be wrong but i think its a seperate format the Silhouette ones you should be able to export as a jpg i think from there you should be able to convert them to svg david
WickedXtreme 0 Posted June 27, 2016 The Silhouette is a .studio format.
KYSIGN 233 Posted June 27, 2016 The studio format is proprietary and they don't allow you to export to a different format even with the designer edition of the software. There was a bug in the version 1.9 and 2.0 studio designer editions that allowed you to save as a SVG by using the .svg extension when exporting as a different format. This has been patched and the activation servers have been disabled for those versions so don't bother looking for a download. They also patched print to PDF workaround by only printing as raster. WickedXtreme 0 Posted June 27, 2016 Thank You. I am trying now to get the mh to cut, it just freezes. As for the studio files. I just have to take a picture of the vinished product, then scan it into the puter. Then continue to trace and go about it that way. Thank you for all the help. Wildgoose 4,200 Posted June 28, 2016 I have never understood the thought process of making it impossible to output files to other formats.

Sue2 920 Posted June 28, 2016 keeps you handcuffed to their product - You're handcuffed when "renting" your programs by the month also... stop paying and you can't use the files unless you saved to a universal file type like eps. AND I am sure they are trying to figure out how to eliminate that too. Sue2

Sue2 and that is why all mine are saved in eps - few in ai but most eps - I can open with at least 4 of my programs
darcshadow 1,626 Posted June 28, 2016 I'm rather surprised no one has ever created a converter tool. People create converters all the time for proprietary files, I've never looked at a .studio file, but I wouldn't think it would be all that complicated to reverse engineer. Guess maybe there isn't a large enough demand for it.
