DNA_Vinyl 262 Posted May 16, 2016 I have a customer who wants a decal removed of his BRAND NEW Jeep. BRAND NEW...it's got 15 miles on it. I don't want to screw up the paint. Also I've never removed one before... I thought I'd used a hair blow dryer and maybe alcohol...maybe even sure green? Any tips?
busterbay 326 Posted May 16, 2016 Heat - hair dryer or heat gun - Goo Gone - Alcohol will not work.
2CT Media 25 Posted May 16, 2016 They make a badge removal tool that is wire between two handles. Pull that through the back side of badge and remove the badge. For the rtv rubber adhesive use heat (around 400 degrees) and roll away the excess adhesive. For the thin adhesive layer clean with alcohol just no ammonia as that can cause paint issues. You can also invest in plastic razor blades that won't damage paint.
Primal Decals 621 Posted May 16, 2016 temp controlled heat gun and a pink chissler for vinyl, no hotter than 250 for any ive removed. any hotter can attack the paint and some rapid prep and alcohol to finish it up.
knucklehead 530 Posted May 16, 2016 Little plastic razor blades, and holder. A little heat helps too. Decal remover wheel from HF, does good, too.

darcshadow 1,626 Posted May 17, 2016 Goo Gone is safe on cars, aside from it saying so on their web page I've used it to remove sap from my vehicles a couple of times.

busterbay 326 Posted May 17, 2016 How to Remove Stickers - Goo Gone Website Heat the bumper sticker with a hair dryer until the edges become loose. Peel the sticker off as best you can. There will be some residue left behind, which is perfectly fine. Spray Goo Gone Automotive to the area with residue. Wipe the Goo Gone and tape residue up. Repeat until all sticker residue is removed. Wash the remaining Goo Gone away with hot, soapy water. http://googone.com/How-to-Remove/Stickers
