Picking a Pantone in Flexi 10

Recommended Posts

How do I choose a specific Pantone in Flexi 10? There MUST be an easier way than to navigate through all the Pantones until I get to my needed Pantone number.

So how are you doing it? It is all set up in categories with numbers in order...and there is only 11 categories on mine..  Flexi10  And you can eliminate some of those categories by the numbers.and Letters.  Make your own little notes, what categories are for what ..

I tried doing it in "Color Spec." I can find my desired color, but it does not apply to object(s). Am I missing something here? The only way I can get an object to accept a color is to use the swatch book at bottom (row) and go through all the Pantones (which are sorted by color groups, not numbers), then pick my desired Pantone. Will "color spec" allow me to apply a Pantone to object(s)?

My software is the same as yours,  just no cutter drivers......I don't know what you are doing..   Here I did an oval in a Pantone color of blue  shows in stroke editor the color and number,  After I add it to my swatch table at the bottom,  All new colors have a small dot on them, because they have been added, and I can put my cursor over those color swatches and it shows me  Pantone,, the number and vendor Pantone.    I just checked my Flexistarter 8.6  and it is the same way..  Not all Pantone colors have numbers,  some have color names.   I only add 1 color at a time that I need to use... .

Yes, this is understood. My issue is locating a particular Pantone. You have to scroll through the Pantone table to find that Pantone you need to use. In Corel, you just type in a Pantone number or colr and it instantly appears, so you can apply it to your object(s). Is there ANY WAY to quickly locate a Pantone that is not already in your personal or document palette?

What about using FIND?? in the Color Palette   It shows any color close in the Pantone library, when you check the Pantone folder.

Softwares all have their differences and features for a reason.

Yes, I tried "find" in the "Color Specs" roll-up. It will find Pantones, but how the heck do you apply this Pantone you found to an object(s) without having to scroll through the Pantone pallette(s).

Ridiculous - or am I missing something?

Thanks. I just emailed them. There has GOT to be a solution...

Pretty sure they will need your Flexi license number,,before they will help... too much pirated   Flexi software out there...  My software is all registered on their site.  So I just give my license # in the first email.

No problem getting an answer from them (I AM registered). Here is their response:

"Unfortunately that is the only way to do it."

I'm bummed. There are over 1000 Pantones and they are sorted by color groups, not even sorted numerically.

Several of you are missing my point of this thread. Sure Flexi lists all the Pantones, but you still have to navigate through the library to get to the one you desire.

Changing sort order to "name" is the best it is going to get in Flexi.

In CorelDRAW, you simply double-click the fill icon, choose the "palette" tab (defaulting to Pantone solid coated), type in the desired Pantone number, and hit OK. Applies that specific Pantone to your object(s). Takes 1-2 seconds to find and apply a Pantone. Flexi (and Illustrator) definitely need to add this feature to their applications. It's back to Corel ("Illustrator on Steroids") for me...

Thanks for trying, Everyone!
