Need help with force and speed setting for different materials...

Recommended Posts

For instance I have some CAD-CUT Thermo film from the Stahls website it is a heat transfer material. I also purchased some Oracal 651 outdoor vinyl. I need the force and speed settings for these materials. Is there a sticky with all kinds of different materials and the settings for them? Oh and I have the Titan 2 28" model cutter. Thanks in advance for any help!

If your just new then start with speed SLOW,until you learn your machine. There are no settings set in stone, You have to adjust and fine tune the settings per machine and material.  All cutters are different even the same model can be different...Force is determined by how you set your blade depth..This is how to set your blade depth correctly.

To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing.

Yup like Mz Skeeter said nothing is set in stone, companies have suggestion speeds. I know if you log onto Stahls/ Cad cut they have an instruction section in every vinyl page.

Sometimes you just need to do test cuts on your cutter to get the right pressure, speed and blade depth. And take notes laminate them and attach them to your cutter or if your titan has presets use them but make a list to remember that preset is for HTV cad cut, HTV Siser, Orcal 651.
