Got Snow?

Recommended Posts

Morning after...roads have been opened during the night

but driveways are still buried under 30+.  The snow is packing

down with the bright sun.

We live in a community with a homeowners association which takes

charge of snow removal, lawn mowing, trimming etc...so, we wait to see

when the crew gets to our driveway.

I'm not even thinking of shoveling any more...my back is complaining

over digging out the dog's area many, many times yesterday.

Our mailbox (center of photo) is now just barely above the snow.

Everything sure is pretty though.

Monday morning...FREEDOM!

One guy with a Bobcat took on all 60+ driveways last evening...

was at our drive around 9:45 PM.

He was good and knew how to clear snow.

.

Major roads were mostly clear to pavement this AM.

The business is fine...no power loss, a small leak in the flat roof...

but otherwise made it through without problems.

Thank you everyone for putting up with my stir-crazy snow posts.

We are not anywhere used to 36" of snow in 24 hours

Glad you got dug out and survived without major catastrophe.  it is still so weird to be looking in on this happening to someone else while we didn't get anything.   can definitely feel your pain though.   stay safe - stay warm

We haven't been plowed out yet.

Well, it's not really going to be PLOWING, more like using a front-loader and scooping up one bucket-full at a time, and figuring out where to pile it.

We had plenty of snow and ice (nothing like that, but enough to make everything pretty and white), but it warmed up over the weekend and then it rained today with a high temperature of nearly 40° - except for the piles of snow from plowing, it's almost all gone and everything is now cold, wet and muddy...  :-\

I am in far western Va., (the other tip.)  When you get to Roanoke, keep driving west 4 hours.

Do you live near the tri point area in Lee county ?

We only got about half a foot or so.  The middle school wrestling couch, some of the wrestler's and a man or two from local churches were going door to door with an ATV and some shovels, shoveling sidewalks.  They refused all monetary offers.  Pretty nice to get your walk shoveled.

Okay.....parking lots still have 5 foot snow piles leftover from 3 weeks ago (see above)

and this morning we have 3" more snow, topped with sleet, topped with freezing rain

and now water from above...making for a VERY slippery surface.

Luckily the main streets have been treated BUT, the driveway, side streets and parking

lots are slick sheets of ice....think skating rink ice.

Now we are under a flood warning as all this melts in today's 49 degree warm spell!

 Spring can't come too soon!
