EvilGnome6 0 Posted January 3, 2016 I'm using vinyl stickers for my Rubik's cubes and I'm looking for a tougher vinyl. In the attached image you can see that the 4 mil Oracal 6310 Fluro colors hold up relatively well but the 2.5 mil 631 does not. Which brands/series of vinyl should I try out? I need a decent variety of colors but it doesn't need to be as big as Oracal's.

EvilGnome6 0 Posted January 3, 2016 Greenstar? Thanks. I'll definitely add it to my list of vinyl to try out.
Jburns 239 Posted January 3, 2016 I would check mil thickness and adhesive strength of other vinyls, For example- 651 is 2.5mil and tensil strength of min. 19 MPa. I would also check convex- I think they make a High strength adhesive, but may be too thick.
Vitaman 27 Posted January 4, 2016 Maybe try a cast vinyl like Oracal 751, or 951? Pricey, but might hold up better. Think the cast is 2 mil.
EvilGnome6 0 Posted January 17, 2016 3M or Avery Cast or calendered? I stopped by a local vinyl supplier and he recommended cast Avery or Oracal for my application.
Molan_Labe 38 Posted January 17, 2016 Avery makes a super cast, SC900 Opaque Adhesive permanent, Durability is 12 years
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted January 17, 2016 The body of the Rubik's is probably high energy plastic which further compounds the issue.
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted January 17, 2016 or is that low energy plastic - I am so confused

Bertie 5 Posted January 22, 2016 Having wasted a lot of time on cheaper vinyls, I find Avery to be a good all round vinyl. Does cost a bit more but you get what you pay for.
