Slightly off-kilter

Recommended Posts

2016 will likely be a very busy year for us all.

I hope everyone is ready for all that it brings.

Here's my first question of the New Year ---

I just finished installing a decal onto a massive piece of construction equipment (company name on the side) and after the decal was in place, I stepped back and realized it was off-kilter by about 1/4"

The angle is hardly noticable, honestly.

But, I can see it.

Should I even lose sleep over this?  Or go back, pull the decal, and do another one?

(The customer has already looked at the completed work & paid for the job. At this point, it's only a matter of whether I want to be pedantic and accurate, based on my own preference of getting it perfectly straight)

I'll try to post a photo later on to show what a minor tilt this was.

I have found that WE are our own worst enemy when it comes to this

type of an "issue".

Most people/customers would not notice that small difference...

unless you point it out AND, even then, they may still not see it.

You could point it out to your customer and let them decide whether

it is in need of replacing or not....whatever they decide, it will ease

your conscience.

If you are a perfectionist and it REALLY bothers you, there is only one

answer here because it will be a thorn in your side every time you think

of it or see it.  BUT, this is a slippery slope...will you always find something

not quite right about a job and keep replacing things??

If, on the other hand, you are worried that other "SIGN PEOPLE" will see it

and diss  you....YOU have to decide if that is a REAL problem or a

personal one.

In the end, if the customer  is happy, THAT is what counts.....

Thanks for that, Sue.

It's absolutely NOT a problem for the client !!!

And I went out to the job site today and immediately realized that I need to stop even thinking about it, because the work is acceptable for this particular piece of machinery (an 80-foot man lift).

Just had to start SOMETHING as a topic this New year, and this one popped into my head.

20 Foot rule, Looks OK to me!!

Exactly, that's the position I'm adopting on this one --- step back and squint and it's fine.

Hey wait thats off kilter lol   I am anal like that myself and honestly have found that ninety nine percent of customers will never even notice it and that I need to kind of calm down on beating myself up for it
