cutting problem with Roland CAMM-1

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am using an old Roland PNC 1100 cutter, that still works perfectly, except a "bug" which appeared only recently. Some lines are not continuously cut out, but they are interrupted, the length of this "break" being 1/2 to 1 inch. This happens only along the right side of the vinyl sheet, at a distance of 1...2 inches from the movable roller. Due to an unknown reason, the knife is raised within this part of the curve, instead of remaining in the "down" position. In never happens in the rest of the sheet area.

Note that the issue has a random character, it occurs accidentally, in an unpredictable way. The same situation when using Flexi or Signtools.

Any explanation or possible origin ?

There isn't much point in posting the same thing in 4 different areas. I moved one of your posts to the correct section, left one in Signcut because Kimon seems to know quite a bit about things, and removed the other 2. In future, if you don't get a response, wait until the evening, and bump the subject up if you have to. The forum is much more active in the evenings and late at night.

In the meanwhile, I managed to solve the problem. The five-line flexible wire connecting the mobile carriage to the up-down command signal source was defective, randomly interrupting the path to the carriage. Replacing it completely eliminated the problem.
