gcextreme 475 Posted October 26, 2015 How do u go about soliciting other local businesses for projects? I have walked around town, a few blocks, and i have seen numerous businesses with paper and black marker lettering taped to their windows...when they should use professional vinyl..etc. Theres a salon, a babershop, a metal working shop, a clothes store, and even a tax accountant office. MadHatterGraphix 1,258 Posted October 26, 2015 Walk in and introduce yourself, explain to them why you stopped by and tell them what you do, maybe make a mug for them with their business name on it hand it out as a freebie.
arty-rc 719 Posted October 26, 2015 Make up a 6" x 12" "Business Hours" sign sample using bright red vinyl on white or yellow coroplast. Those colors will really pop! Then stop by the stores and play "show and tell" with the owner. It will get your foot in the door and possible more work.

pshawny 410 Posted October 27, 2015 Take a picture of their storefront and create a mockup to show them. Pictures speak louder than words.
painperdu 3 Posted October 27, 2015 Make up a sell sheet with a few of the best reasons they need an effective sign from you. Either just drop off or mail the sheet to the business, or hand the sheet to the manager/owner. If you're not good at face to face sales just hand the sheet over and ask them to look it over when they get a chance. If you're good at talking to people then adjust accordingly. If you can customize the sheet then it will inspire the customer much more than something generic. Spell out as much of the process and finished product as you can to make it easier for the customer to just say OK. Try to anticipate and address all of the objections the customer might have.
