Is it the software or hardware

Recommended Posts

Started my first cut project this morning. It's 14 (3x6) decals in one cut in SCALP 3 on a US Cutter LPII. It's getting through the first few decals and then pauses about 95% through the next decal and hangs. Software has the Cutting... status bar open and the bar is about 1/4" sent, not moving and the cutter is stopped blade down in the middle of a cut.

I've got a Mac, do I need to look at the serial port option with the USB/Serial adapter? Or is that only on the PC side?

TIA,

Jason

I don't feel like it's printer memory. I just tried to send a cut, again, and again It hung on me. I had to force the software closed and when I tried to reopen, it just bounces, never opens. Forced to reboot to get the software to open, again.

SCALP shows a Baud Rate of 9600, what is the suggested?

I was finally able to print about 21 pretty intricate decals over a 30" x 30" piece of vinyl. It paused a few times but would start again. Guess you just have to be patient with the software.

Primal, any big reasons to go with SCALP Pro 4, over 3?

People bash Sure Cuts A Lot Pro all the time I haven't found anything better for what it is and see nothing wrong with it... It has made me several $$'s and it's very easy to use. Yes It has a few quirks but it's main use is to cut vinyl and it performs that well.   I will admit that I will design complicated items in Coreldraw.

Im right with ya busterbay but i use Ai cs6 and cut in scalps4.  I looked at vinyl master and a few others and i just couldnt work with it like i could with scalps.

If you are designing in one program then sending to scalp aren't you really defeating the purpose of having an all in one program

Not really if I design it once in Corel then setup a cutting file in SCALP it's ready to go the next time I need it. I tried the other programs and this combination works well for my needs.

I personally went the route of finding an all in one. I started with signblazer back in the day and I really liked the idea of 1 program for everything but that is just my personal preference.
