What VM pro version are you running?

Recommended Posts

I've been having alot of crashes with the software so I thought I'd look to see if there's any updates.

It turns out that it's suppose to check for updates automatically.

Only thing is it hasn't updated a single time.   Hasn't updated since 06/05/14 and I'm still on version 4.0.0.01

Anyone running a newer version?

Operating system?

What were you doing when it crashed?

Have you contacted Future Corp. for support? http://www.vinylmasterpro.com

Just a shot in the dark, but software like this is extremely susceptible to crashes due to system FONT handling failure (corrupt font files).

I learned that around 20 years ago when trying to get QUARK Express (who remembers that program?) to behave properly on a macintosh, and it turned out to be a single user-installed font that was wonky. You might want to look for a FIXIT application to track down and correct such anomalies.

 Windows 7

It's crashed doing all different types of actions.  Anything from trying to save a document to just welding 2 things together.   I get the window that asks you if you want to continue with the application,  restart the application, or shut down the application.

I haven't contected them yet.  The last option in that window is to send a debug file which I've tried but it opens an outbox window.  The problem with that is I don't use outbox.

I'm just alittle surprised that over the last year+ there hasn't been an update.  I wanted to see if anyone has a newer version.

My Pro version V4.0 SP@ 4.0.0.01 is dated 4/4/2014.

Downloaded around the end of May, last year.

It updated to the date yours has shortly after I started using it.

Not long after that, it went back to the date I presently have.

Recently I've had a few occurrences with that 'Continue?' box but,

It's been pretty stable over the past 17 months.

Most of my initial problems were related to the font files.

I dumped them from within the program and have them seperately

on my hard drive.

"I dumped them (fonts) from within the program and have them separately

on my hard drive."

Sounds like a good idea.

[[ Now I see why you have that lightbulb glowing in your avatar !!!  You're always thinking of clever solutions. ]]

The fonts will still be accessible to the program, but the reading path will be different for VM to handle and not gum up the other workings.

Worth a try, it costs nothing.

How do I do that Skarekrow?

Been a while back but,

From this folder ProgramFiles>Futurecorp>Vinylmaster>Fonts>Futurefonts I copied the folder structure and fonts to my Data drive.

You can put them any where outside the FutureCorp Program folder, just not in your OS Font folder.

Then strip all those fonts and their folders from the program but leave the loose (Adalyn.ttf) font in place (in that 'Futurefonts' folder).

Now point the Font Manager to the new fonts address and load your "Favorites" into the program.

Not sure about if the reduced version of Vm USCutter was selling has the Font Manager with it.

It seems necessary for this to work and you dont want to bog down your OS with tons of fonts either.

I have about 10,000 fonts and can't have them all loaded at once.

This way they are all there and available but not slowing anything down.
