Please Help: Vinyl cuts are undersized

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I am from Australia and purchased CREATION PCUT CT0630 a month ago.  I noticed that the vinyl decals come up a bit undersized.  I use Flexi 10 for programming and I program the decals to be 500 mm O/A Length and 40 mm O/A Width but they end up on the sheet as 499 by 39. The same thing happens with the test cut.

I am using the following parameters:

USB cable as connection port

WIN XP SP03

Press: 118 units

Speed: 40 units (due to small decal size)

Blade 45 deg standard vinyl Blade (1.5 mm shank dia 23 mm length)

Knife offset : 0.009 in

Flexi 10 Basic version.

The cut is otherwise fine. The blade sticks out of the holder by 0.5 mm.

Please help as this issue is driving me insane.

Regards

I'm not a Flexi user but it sounds like perhaps you are getting a weeding boarder around it that is .5mm out from the design possibly? Have you sized the decal to scale in the program or are you sizing it during the send to cut procedure? If you select the whole image what size is it showing it to be prior to sending to cut? If it's sized right then you will have to calibrate flexi to your cutter and there should be a way to do that.

If everything is alright on your layout screen, you can try this...  enter something on your layout screen> click cut/plot so that your cutting screen is open...Go to upper left corner, where it says properties.. click it.. screen will change. Now look at the top of screen where it looks like a blade click it..Mine is the blade with the + .You will see resolution _steps.  Mine says 1016.steps..    Make a square to cut, like 3" x 3"    or it looks like you use metric, so what ever there...If it is not cutting 3" x 3"  then adjust the steps, a number or 2 until it is right... Here is my screenshot.  I am on Flexi8.6, but same process. post-3058-0-46962600-1441237435_thumb.jp

Wildgoose: I am scaling the decal right in the program thus it shows 500 X 40 in flexi sign. I am a bit worried as if I have to cut cinyl for some prefabricated small sign letters it may pose a problem

I usually export the file as dxf into auto cad and edit the decal over there.  I had to do it as sometimes I cut decals in my mother tongue wherein words go with a line at the top. When I import that file backj to flexi sign it remains the same scale i.e. 500 X 40

Thanks a lot for your advice guys.

Please find enclosed some snaps of my cutting

I will have a look on these settings and will check the packet data. Otherwise I was told by the tech support (after I kept driving them nuts for 2 hours that the differences usually go when we adjust X and Y scales on the cutter menu.

knucklehead

Thanks for welcoming me.

It may sound pretty good when we are cutting decals that need to be stuck on to a board but if we are asked to cut cinyl faces for small 3D fabricated letters then it may pose a problem

Thanks a ton for your advice guys.

Sorry my mistake: I am not complaining about the cutter.  It might have accidentally been posted in complaints and criticism section.  I purchased it locally in australia
