collk88 0 Posted August 26, 2015 Hi all, just started getting interested in designing/creating decals/stickers and hopefully doing even more once I get the basics down. I need some help (and maybe this question is better suited in another section, but I'll start here...) with understanding types of decals and how to make them. I want to try my hand and making some vehicle decals like OEM trucks "4x4" or "offroad" type. With my limited understanding, I want to know how to make something like the "Z71" decal attached below. It has more than one color, but is one whole sticker...is this printed? I have seen similar with clear background/transparent border.... Hopfully, that wasn't too confusing, but simply, how would I go about making something like that?? Thanks in advance!
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted August 26, 2015 Yes these are printed. Unless you have pockets full of money you will probably want to layer them. Printers are pretty expensive and also expensive to maintain.
collk88 0 Posted August 26, 2015 Forgive me for sounding like a novice...but how would I go about taking a graphic like that and importing it into something like Inkscape and changing colors? i would imagine, I could send the custom design to someone to have printed...? Also, what type of printer would I be looking at to do something like that? type of vinyl needed? Just want to do some exploring, i would imagine it is out of my price range, but just curious. Thanks for the quick reply!

Thanks for the quick reply! lots of info pinned in the instructional area on the forum on getting the design cut ready - on the printer check out the roland versacamm or the mimaki that usc sells http://www.uscutter.com/MIMAKI-CJV150-130-160-Printer-Cutter-System
Bingo777 4 Posted September 2, 2015 welcome abord you need to practice different logos and decals to combine colors in one sticker For me, I like doing stickers on the cutter not on the printer, I feel cutter is the original, printer is the copy as Rock music concerts Rock is the real while they are playing guitars and drums live front of you and pop is the copy while the music is played from computer or tape and they only do the vocal and most of the time its recorded also so they only act. But at the end, all have its needs and demand the secret : Practice alot you can check this sticker as I combined 8 different colors in it http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/gallery/image/1940-img-0277/ sorry if my opinion is not matched with all Have a great day
