Creation KingCut CT-3600

Does it power up otherwise? Can you use the menu keys even though you cant see the display?

Boy that looks alot like my creation P-cut cutter. Do you have a manual, or parts list?  If you can cross a PN, UScutter was selling the LCD display  here for 20 bucks:

someone can correct me, but I doubt there are repair centers for that brand.

It powers up but I honestly do not no how to use it. I fought it used along with a computer with the Flexi program on it. I have not been able to find a manual or parts list for it. The guy I bought it from said it started stopping part way thru the cut and he thought it was the cord from the computer to the cutter. I cannot tell if the cutter is even responding to the computer.

well to start:

1. what kind of cord-- USB or Serial ( 9 pin RS-232)? If it is USB then he is most likely right. you should use this for that cutter::http://www.uscutter.com/Keyspan-USB-Serial-Adapter

2. To check the cutter if its functioning.: When you hear the fan come on -- wait a few seconds, then press ONLINE. Press the left and right arrows. You should see the carriage move left and right. Press the up down arrows- you should see the roller move back and forth.

It is a Serial cable. I turned it on, heard the fan and tried all the steps you suggested. Nothing moved.

Hmmm...and nothing on the screen?  try turning off, turn on....wait a few seconds and try #2 again...That machine looks just like the PCUT, I would think the menus are the same.

well,

if you are comfortable with it, remove power cord, pull the covers off, flip up the upper lid, and check the wiring... I have posted pictures of my wire harnesses etc in the past on one of the Support or general question forums:

I am not sure if anyone does repairs for that model, but there are plenty of parts for sale at uscutter.com

The display is totally blank. Any suggestions? Any repair places in Idaho?

Not sure on repair either. USCutter stopped selling Creation a while back I believe. Where are you located in ID? Maybe we are neighbors.

Ha! I'm in Nampa. You are the first forum member to be anywhere near me! That's cool. I used to have a P-Cut. If you have never used that thing and need a hand getting going let me know. (obviously after you get it running). The support folks at USCutter may be able to help you figure out whats up with it even though it's not a current offering. I'm not much of an electrical guy.

Here might be some user manual and other help from China.

http://www.creation.com.hk/eng/uploadfile/download/KINGCUT%20CT%20User's%20Manual(4.22).pdf

That second link for the actual users manual looks better than what I got with my P-Cut. Should help you with overall use.

I am so frustrated! I have taken it apart again and redid the connections on the led display but I have the same results, just little squares. It still will not move the cutter back and forth. Any other suggestions?

So it powers up, and you say there are just squares on the lcd...that means its getting power and the pixels are working ( earler you said it was blank).if the fan comes on also, that rules out the power supply... Time to start replacing parts...

A motherboard for the Pcut is only 20 bucks...check and research if its the same as pcut.

It all depends how much you want to put into it.

Here is where you can still get parts for the Creation vinyl cutters, including LCD screen.  Info below from USCUTTER support

My screen is blank/has a line of black boxes across it.

Normally on a Creation machine the screen going blank or displaying black boxes means that one of the kill switches is being depressed. The kill switches are located on each inner wall, if either of these are pressed down the machine will cease all activity until the button isn't being pressed anymore. These kill switches are there to protect the motor that moves the carriage. In order to fix the problem turn the machine off, move the carriage off of the kill switch gently, then turn the machine back on. If the screen is still blank then tap each kill switch to see if they are stuck down. If this does not fix your problem you should get a hold of our tech support team.
