If you feel he's a valuable customer you can license it to license possibly at no cost or minimal cost so he keeps coming to you for the stuff you can handle.

There isnt much to be made after he decides on shirts etc ,The only thing im making money on is the decal for the vehicles and there isnt many vehicles ,I was able to find his group he runs and there is only like 25 people. from what he told me last week was there was like 100 plus .and now i see no where near that, so there wont be much money made from him in the end.And now i feel my time has been wasted and you guys who gave me shirts quotes..

In that case I have a 1 hr. Minimum. Charge accordingly.

I'd do something like $45 for the design without a purchase. Tell him that you have time into it and if he purchases vinyl and shirts from you your giving him the charge for that time as a perk. If he needs the design for an embroidered hat then they probably charge him a set up fee possibly even with the artwork. Throw some offer out there like a 20 shirt order and you'll throw in the file.

Just for comparisons I have a logo design package that I sell for $250 which includes approximately 10 hours of my time on the computer. Some jobs only take a little while others take longer to satisfy if they don't know what they want. At the end of it I give them about every conceivable file type and layout look all on a thumb drive with 1 year tech support if they have something that needs a specific layout for a website or something like that. I usually put a little caveat in the fine print about no changes to the actual design and that if they exceed the 10 hour estimate they will be charged $25 per hour but that I will warn them if they are getting close. I allow about 1 hour just to save and name all the files. .....So what i'm saying is $45 isn't a lot of money to ask for something that is a skilled job requiring above average knowledge and programs.
