lvtech 0 Posted June 29, 2015 My issue is that after I send a job (usually a bigger job file) it will only send the data over to the cutter until a certain percentage (right now, stuck on 65%), the cutter starts cutting until it reaches that point, and then it'll give a big diagonal cut before going back to its starting point, eventually I get a Write Port Error, but that doesn't always come up before I give up and abort the job. I made sure everything matches up with the Device Manger COM port and the Production Manager settings (using FlexiSTARTER). Everything matches up. I've also tried changing it to 19200 or 4800 (in both device manager and the production manager settings) instead of the 9600. Also I've changed the packet size to 1000 kb and changed the curve quality to medium, and I still get the same thing. Smaller jobs sometimes go through but it's very hit or miss. I've tried both USB, as well as using a Keyspan Adapter with a serial cable. My cutter is a USCutter SC Series (Liyu brand driver) and I'm running the provided software on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. I'm going to reinstall the program again and hope for the best, but I wondered if anyone has any ideas/thoughts?
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted June 29, 2015 May not be your case but I know at least one other person who could not run their cutter with flexi. They ended up going back to cutting with sure cuts.
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted June 29, 2015 I have also read that the SC (Liyu) are limited on memory.
lvtech 0 Posted June 29, 2015 I had also read that during these past few days of troubleshooting. The thing that gets me is that before my computer crashed it has worked fine for some reason. I had to replace the hard drive (still same computer) and reinstall everything, and that's when I started to have these issues. For that reason I'm reasoning that it's a software issue, although I've pretty much tried all the different settings by now and am about ready to concede to hardware/cutter issues. MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted June 29, 2015 You can try this if you haven't already done so.. Put something on your mat and click CUT/PLOT when the screen opens go to PROPERTIES upper left corner under cutter name... Screen will change. Choose the tab at top that looks like blade, Click it... Now go down to PACKET SIZE. Erase what is there and Change it to 1000 KB.. Click APPLY and OK.
KYSIGN 233 Posted June 30, 2015 Remember to test without the blade holder inserted to save some vinyl.
Go-C Graphics 856 Posted June 30, 2015 Nevermind...... I can't read.
lvtech 0 Posted June 30, 2015 Remember to test without the blade holder inserted to save some vinyl. Thanks, I should have thought of this before! Could have saved myself quite a bit of the stuff. Haha. I appreciate the replies, so far none of it has worked however. Reinstalling the software also did nothing. I'm planning to reinstall my OS (restore from factory, w/e) and start fresh today, and will update once I've tried that.
signyouup 178 Posted June 30, 2015 It sounds like a port setting. There is a way to setup the port to behave like a printer port . This way it only sending data to the plotter as it needs it instead of dumping the whole thing on the plotter at once and anything that doesn't fit in memory is lost. It's been a while since I did it and don't remember how but it solved that issue with a MH cutter. This might be it. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/1379-to-fix-plotter-failure-during-big-projects-using-sign-cut-try-it-prior-to-postin/?hl=%2Bplotter+%2Bport+%2Blike+%2Bprinter
