First sublimation. Be gentle.

So here is the first cup.

The Black isn't as vibrant as I'd like, so it looks like I need to get the profile right.

2nd cup. A little better on the colors.

I changed some things and the black is coming through better.

Phone isn't too well on the pictures though.

Yes, black is brownish. I set the oven to 400 degrees.

So I'll have to double check the temps or turn it up a little on the oven's settings.

Thanks!

How long are you cooking them for 400 degrees at 12 minute? I have had issues where I over bake and it seems the ink evaporated and the paper started to burn. Wast toaster oven/ convention oven are you using? And the designs look great for a beginner.

400 is what I set the oven at.
Have no idea what oven it is.
It's a convection oven that the wife got me from a supplier she uses.
She's a cook.

More than likely, I'll have to hit it with the temp gun to see what it's actually at.
I suspect that 400 isn't quite 400.

I went 12 minutes on the first on and 13 minutes on the second one.

I might do a few more tonight to see if I can get it dialed in a little better.

The boat is a replica of one my dad was on that sank in the early 60s during a fishing boat rescue.
The people in the picture are him and another family member.
The cup is for my dad.
I thought it turned out as well as the picture would allow. LOL!

The first cup is my old website logo.

How snug do you have the wraps?

Thats what I was thinking time might be too long but maybe more pressure then if you can.  The other issue could be the mugs if you didn't get them from Conde or Coastal

I'd have thought I got the wrap too tight.
I cranked them down pretty good.

But I'll go a little more this next time and see how that does.

OK, next one is in the oven.
I rechecked the temps. A little low, so I tried bring the temp up a little.
Made sure the wrap was good and snug.
Going for 12 minutes.
We'll see what happens.  B)

The wraps and mugs are from Conde.

Ink and paper from Cobra.

This time the wrap was tight enough that the paper wanted to stick to it.

Don't know why my phone pictures are so grainy, but here is the last one tonight.

The mug is for the guy who's logo that is.

He gets a free mug, I get the practice. LOL!

cant really add anything as the other guys have the experience with cobras inks - this is one done at 15 min in wifes oven for one of the OCC guys that gave it to his wife for an example of the blacks

Oops.

Well, at least if I'm gonna make mistakes, I get them all in on one night.

So tomorrow, I'll try again at 14-15 minutes and see how that does.

The nice thing about the mugs, I have no troubles getting rid of my mess ups.

BTW, going from paint and vinyl, I appreciate the help on stepping into something else.

In your artwork make sure your black is RGB 0 0 0. I get a brown color when pressed  when for whatever reason my corel switches to a CMYK black.

Once you get used to using real black (RGB 000), you'll notice that the default "black" in CorelDraw is not really very black, but an ugly dark grey.

Start using the preferred black and you should see a noticeable difference in your final product.

Corel draw you can also go into the fill color on the bottom, double click it and slide it down till it creates black with CMYK. True it mixes the CMYK to create the dark black and wastes inks but it works.

Thanks guys!

I also had the wrong profile set up and went and watched the video on Cobra and corrected it.
Hopefully, I'll get a chance to get a couple more mugs done tonight to see how it comes out.

One thing about it, if I'm gonna learn, might as well make the mistakes now. ROFL!

Edit:

So if I have svg/eps images from Inkscape, will I have to re-do them in Corel to correct the black or will changing the default black setting correct it?

And is that in all version of Corel Draw?
I have Corel Draw 11.

So in checking my black on a few of my images (specifically my BAT logo), it is clear that it wasn't really black.
Replaced the ugly black with RGB 000 and it's way crisper (is that a word?).

Thanks! I'd have been blaming the printer, ink, paper and everything else I was doing wrong way before I'd have given any consideration that it was the color on the image, but it's very clear that it was the black in the image.
