You didn't mention which vinyl cutter you have but most should be capable of cutting heat transfer vinyl. Just remember to mirror the design before cutting it.

I have an SC cutter and started during football season making jerseys for the flag football league.  Have sold lots of shirts, but it helps when your sister buys a pizza place and wants T's for her employees.  I'm about to do about 300 kids for youth baseball, and it will be my largest order.  I just have a 15" x 15" manual press.  It's all ready paid for itself a few times.  I wish I had bought one with a hat press attachment.  So, I'm about to have to purchase one.

If you want a hat press too buy a separate unit made specifically for doing hats. The hat market is a little more clouded than shirts. A lot of people are looking for embroidered hats. I do a fair amount of vinyl hat work but it's a tougher sell and usually just a cost saving measure for my clients vs paying the premium for sewn which just means they are already looking for a cheap hat so the mark-up is tougher to get. They are also surprisingly time consuming.

I had real good luck with the swing away from USCutter. It's reasonably priced and nicer to work with the platen out of the way rather than over your hands.
