mountaindr3wz 0 Posted January 26, 2015 I've tried vectoring these images using the trace button on illustrator and my cutter still seems to double cut it only for the back design or make a stray mark on the front design . Any help will be great, I've got 30 shirts to finish by tuesday evening and need to start cutting asap. Thanks! frontside.svg apsirhostussybackshirtprint.svg
Primal Decals 621 Posted January 26, 2015 i see the stray line , its only on the one image correct? and are you only having a issue with one or both files?
darcshadow 1,625 Posted January 26, 2015 The double cut is due to having multiple layers. Ungroup the entire image, then select the large white rectangle background and change it to some color like red and you will see all the extra shapes that are not necessary. Easiest fix would be to do a select all by color and select all the white stuff and delete them. Or in your cutting software tell it to only cut the black color. Wildgoose 4,200 Posted January 26, 2015 Here are the two cleaned up. But what darcshadow said is spot on. Hate to tell you but it's just a little user error. I fixed these with my older CS2 version at my day-job so hopefully the re-saved format still works ok for you. frontside fix.svg apsirhostussybackshirtprint fix.svg
mountaindr3wz 0 Posted January 26, 2015 you guys are awesome! Im slowly making the transition to illustrator from inkscape so there is quite a learning curve. Thank you all for you help!
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted January 26, 2015 Welcome aboard and AI definitely has a steep initial learning curve. Once you get a few of the main workflows figured out it's easy enough. You might play around with the preset tracing options. There are a couple that are closer to what you need for simple vinyl that won't leave things like this one was. I hardly ever auto-trace so I can't even tell you which one is best to use. I don't know what version you are running but I think there are likely some different auto trace results based on the version of the program that you have as well. Seems like I get white fills in all the open spaces when using the preset "Black and White logo" in the CS2 version but not in the CS5 version. CS2 has several minor differences that they streamlined in later versions. I enjoy the CS5 version a lot more than the older one.
mountaindr3wz 0 Posted January 26, 2015 could someone double check the file that wildgoose posted please. Im not sure if its my cutter or there an error in the design that is causing the file to cut a stray line. Thanks
darcshadow 1,625 Posted January 26, 2015 Where's the stray line being cut?
mountaindr3wz 0 Posted January 26, 2015 its taking the 'E' and cutting it in the bottom left portion, I may try the keyspan adapter and see if it works out with that.
