Newbie wanted to get opinions of some of my work.

Recommended Posts

I bought my cutter in September and started glass etching in November. I had never done any of this before. I figured out I love etching Glass! Here is some of the stuff that I have done. I build all the my own frames and bases also. Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Travis

I too like the edge lit stuff....always have.  I swear one of these days I am going to try it.  I just need to slow down some and find out where to buy those dang lights.

Is it difficult to build the edge lit frames?  The lighting looks awsome and I also like the wine bottle you did for your wife.  Was she surprised??

Thanks for all the kind words.

Xpaperman - I get the LED strips off ebay. 3528 or 5050 waterproof Led strip lights.

Kcross47601 - the frames are built just like you would a normal picture frame. I just add a bit of a recess for the strip to fit into also. I have been tinkering with wood work for quite awhile. My father was a carpenter. These frames are built out of old fence pickets.

Your etching is wonderful and your vinyl work is crisp and clean too. Nice work. What equipment are you running?

Wildgoose- I am using a sc series 25" cutter. I had no clue when I started what to get, I only wanted a vinyl plotter to do stencils for gun receivers. I didn't want to spend to much. I know there are better cutters out there and eventually I would like to purchase a servo motor cutter of some type, but the sc has done everything I want so far.

I am using a harbor freight blast cabinet that I modified to do the etching.

I am in the process of building a site blaster to go to sites and do etching on site. (Hopefully my thoughts on this will work. If it pans out I will post information on the build.)
