ColoradoWayne 0 Posted January 13, 2015 Hi All - I just joined tonight. I ordered a cutter and SCALP software today because the advertising says it imports DXF files. However, I did a search in this forum and found nothing. Can anyone point me to someplace where the topic of importing and exporting dxf files has been discussed? Thanks, Wayne
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted January 13, 2015 You might be able to find more info at the site that makes and supports SCALP http://www.craftedge.com They also have their own forum.

Wildgoose 4,200 Posted January 13, 2015 Be aware that DXF files are native to CAD and may be in their natural state which is a spline. They don't usually have each little line connected when I import the into AI, not sure how SCALP will deal with them but good luck. I run a special plug-in to connect them all so they are manageable but they still consist of a bazillion points and line to line drawing rather than the curves we are used to in typical vector graphics. I do some conversions for a metalworker and thus bought the plug-in but they are a PIA most of the time and cut fairly rough unless you spend some effort to smooth them out.
