Banner Job

Recommended Posts

Question...I was asked if I can make banner....and yes I can. Like most of you.

BUT...

I forgot to mention to the guy I can do FULL color.

So...I drew up a banner/sign with his ideas as best I could in solid colors.

My question is, How much should I charge?

6' long x 21" wide.

The banner will have Pizza, Hot Wings and priceing on it.

I was thinking around $200 a piece...is that hi? He wants 3 of them.

That's like a $30 banner around here. If you're getting $200 each the word gouging comes to mind. Even the expensive guys around here would be under $75 each

Full color at SIGNS 365 will cost YOU about $30 and lower in quantities.

But, will the prices need changing in the future?

If so, then vinyl on vinyl is a better way to go.

Or a combo of the two.

Get em' printed for 99 cents a square foot, charge $5.00 sq/ft.  6' x 21 inch= 12 sq/ft= $60.00 = $48.00 profit for doing almost nothing. Well, someone does have to open the box, and deliver, and pick up the wings and pizza.

I've posted this before, but it's worthwhile doing so here again ---

There is a quick calculator for banner pricing available to anyone with an internet connection, at HalfPriceBanners.com

2x6 is $27 each, plus shipping for 3.   That is the same amount as mentioned by sue and jaybird.

I would mark them up, to double that (which covers my design work and time spent dealing with the customer on this project)

So, yeah, $200 each is hi.   Like on crack.

Unless this guy is charging $100 for wings and $200 for a pizza.

HA! WOW...I was waaaayyy to high. Maybe I'll shoot for $40-$50. That feels right.

Also I faild to mention to the guy that I can't do full color printing. That might be a deal breaker.

Thanks everyone.

For full color, Design it & job it out. Mark up 2X & you're done.

Some of the banner print sites even have a Design Online option.

Why would the customer need to know who actually prints them? All customers need is a price, and delivery date.

The printer does the printing. Nobody needs to know who pushed the print button, only that it is what they needed.

Yeah...they don't NEED to know where it's being printed.

People are funny if you tell them you won't actually be

making their stuff onsite...like they think they are

paying too much if YOU are not actually making it.

It's a sticky situation...especially when the provider messes up

and things take too long or have to be redone.

Don't ask Don't tell. I never offer information that isn't specifically asked and Sue is right if they think you just sub it out they may go down the road and actually pay the other guy more that does it in house.
