racert25 2 Posted November 19, 2014 I am looking to get a new cutter. I have the first gen Laserpoint. It has worked great for the time i have had it. I am not sure what cutter to get to replace this one. I do some work for customers maybe $1000 per year. What i use it most for is my race vehicles i do a lot of graphics on them probably would cost me over $5000 per year if i did not have a cutter. I know Rolands are great but cant see spending the money. What are your suggestions?
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted November 19, 2014 At least step up to the SC or the Laser11. If that is your budget. Don't go down any further. If you can afford more, buy the best that you can afford. How about making some money on the side with it, to get a better quality cutter.?
racert25 2 Posted November 19, 2014 I think i can make more if i market it. Just trying to keep cost low as possible with a good quality cutter. The main things that frustrated me about the laser point is it didn't like to track straight for a long cut and i could not cut under 1".
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted November 19, 2014 A servo motor cutter is much better than a stepper motor cutter. More accurate cuts and better tracking. The Laser 11 is a different brand now. It is made by Liyu. The Laser 1 was made by Creation... I own a cutter with a servo motor, I would never go back to a stepper motor, value cutter. They are night and day. If you look further down on this post (picture with the dime) I cut some very small chrome letters. My cutter is a FC But my son owns the CE5000-60...never a problem. Purchased over 2 years ago.. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/38876-need-to-cut-small-chrome-letters/
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted November 19, 2014 I've only been running them 2 years but I've had at least 5 different value cutters and there is no comparison. And mine get run for hours a day normally.
Sal316 166 Posted November 19, 2014 I have both the 28" Titan2 & The Graphtec 24". The Graphtec is hands down worth the extra money, in my opinion.
