Siser Heat transfer/detailed logo

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new to vinyl cutting and I own a woodworking business. I use the printer for paint masks mainly with woodwork, but I have always wanted to make my own tshirts for our business. I bought some siser easy heat transfer material and I am having problems with our current logo and detailed cutouts. I knew up front that this logo would be an issue. The letters come out fine, even when they are small, but the column the way it is, it is too detailed for this application I think, at least at the size I am printing it for the left breast front of a tshirt.

How would you guys approach it? Should I just go back to AI and design a simplified version of this vector that I originally obtained? I even thought about just doing away with the column and go with the text, and or redo the logo. But the tiny details don't work with this application, and they just weed off all in one ball piece, I don't think it will work well.

Have it printed on heat transfer paper, that might work better and quicker.

I thought about the heat transfer paper too,  but I don't think it would look very professional.

Maybe redo your "column" and make so it is just a silhouette so it will be easy to cut and weed.

Yup... I'd consider dumbing it way down for the General Public.

Make it as easy for them to understand as possible.

Yep, biggest mistake I see a lot of businesses make is going too wild on the logo. Modern technology is amazing and there are almost no limits to what can be done but it also often comes with a price tag to match. I would re-draw it similar but with just the silhouette of the fancy scrollwork up on top so it would be repeatable on the side of your vehicles too. With a little creative forethought you can get the point across quite well but simplified. Just look at the big name companies that everyone in the world knows, 95% of them have very simple but effective brands. I think if it was me I would also go ahead and thicken up the light lines in the lettering as well or pick something else while your re-drawing things. I always try to steer my clients toward easy to cut graphics and if you are cutting shirt vinyl you'll soon be doing your truck or something.

Thanks for your feedback everyone. I hired a freelance guy to re-do our logo and told him to make it less detailed and to give it a fresh look. I'm not partial to the logo now, so I am glad I am just making the changes now before I go put this on everything. At the moment its just on our card and site and stationary, but as you guys said when I want to do vinyl transfer for trucks later having a simple logo will make our life easier. Appreciate your feedback everyone!
