Monkey 252 Posted October 27, 2014 Probably dumb trick but it has helped my hair loss. 1 thing I hate about weeding HTV is how it sticks to the tweezers and can be a PITA to drop off. I take my scrap vinyl and cut a square. I lay it sticky side up and as Im weeding I just touch it to the vinyl and it stays there....makes for really easy clean up....no small pieces all over the place stuck with static. BTW....those letters are just under 1/4" and I do smaller with my SC.
jaybyrd 3,770 Posted October 27, 2014 Do it the same way and it can save your sanity especially when there's a lot of static electricity in the air
OWJones 1,981 Posted October 28, 2014 Another trick is to pick out all the centers from your letters first, then weed around the letters, then remove the excess outside of your weed borders - the opposite of the way I would normally weed regular vinyl. By exposing as little as possible of the sticky carrier film as you go, you'll find that the whole sheet doesn't stick to your hand while you're trying to do the small stuff.
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted October 28, 2014 I save some of the larger carrier sheets and just stack them up on top of each other when pressing for use as weeding paper much like the vinyl. A little thicker which I have found stays laying down just a bit better but hey if you are like a lot of us and have rolls of it laying around this is another great example of a productive use for the GS vinyl too. Incidentally those carrier sheets work pretty darn good if you are needing to do some craft style paper cutting as a not too sticky carrier for construction paper or other paper products.

Yeah I read on here back when I first started about weeding out the small spots first so you dont stick to the sheet all the time...cant imagine doing it the other way around lol. Wildgoose 4,200 Posted October 28, 2014 I tried that but I can't see good enough to find all the holes until I pull the main piece off so I just utilize my long arms and keep my forearm off the sticky.
SeeJaysPlace 476 Posted October 29, 2014 I take a strip of 2-3 inch masking about 10 inches long lay that down on the table next to what HTV i'm weeding.. and touch my tweezers to that! Yep it saves a lot of time trying to get the vinyl off your tweezers
