Yes select Type on path tool

then in your advance window my library select arch (first one)

then I always go bake to the top select tool and widen the arch to what I want it to be.

now select the type on a path again and type what your saying (make sure you select the font your using)

Now after that go to the text window on the right and adjust the way you want it to be shaped

path start offset , size, width, tracking, are go be the ones your going to use.

after you have it looking how you want it. go back to the top left and select the select arrow and select the arch and text window (Its go select the whole window anyway).

now go to the object window go down to break apart and it will erase the arch. Now the letter will all have a fill to the just select the lettering again and go back to the object window and this time select Merge. and now you have what you want.

now go to Object window and down to Add Shadow Layer and select the size I used 1 and select ok. now just move the design to how you want the offset to look.

make sure you group all your letters.

BINGO That's it, just don't cut the white and you have a  perfect void.  Thank you Monkey

copy and paste in place the top layer.  Click the eyeball to make it disappear from the layers window for a minute.  Then do back minus front and that will leave the shadow layer.  Then click on the eyeball again to bring back that copied top layer.  Then slide it over to give it that separation.
