Kicking my BUTT

Recommended Posts

I imported this logo off their PDF. This thing is broken up into SOOOOO many layers its not even funny.

There's got to be a better way to do this. I worked on it for 4 hours and it still not right. Any suggestions?

I don't want to just ask for you guys to vector everything for me, I can normaly do it myself. I also need/like

to learn all the ways of doing it.

If it's like the devil was the are a lot of layers that are not actually seen so you can remove those. Just find the layers that make up what you see then weld and cut till you get what you want with a minimum of shapes/layers. Is that logo in the same PDF that was linked to in your other post?

Found the PDF with it. I was going to post what I did as I edited the file but it won't let me copy and paste to the browser for some reason. So here is a text file with the steps.

I manually traced each letter, added an outline of white, an outline of yellow, and did a block shadow of black.

Realize that only the pickiest of customers will notice minor differences in

your artwork and the often not so great jpg file they provided.

When it comes to detail, we are our own worst enemy....

being perfectionists.....sometimes a bit too much.

I'm in that category too!

Not familiar with that program. You can get inkscape and click the pen tool and trace it. I use FlexiSign.

Thaat's 100% true.   I waste a ton of time getting it perfect knowing the customer would never know the differance.

What program are you using? In Inkscape, select the horns and the head then hit Ctrl and the - key. Note, this will delete the horn. So if need to keep it, duplicate the horn first. Post a jpg or screen capture of what you have so far.

In LXI if you have items grouped or select more that 2 items at a time sometimes it wont punch items through. I am assuming this is what you are trying to do.

Ungroup if you have items grouped. Then try selecting one horn and the head and use the effects exclude common.  Then select the other horn and effects exclude common again.

Hopefully this is what you were getting at in your previous post.
