I have known the guy i done this for for a while so i wasnt to concerned about the money, plus i need the experience, however in the future i would like to know what jobs like this usually cost. him being a friend i shot him a low figure of $40, he said i was way to cheap (which i knew) and handed me a extra $20. this is roughly 18inchs wide and 13 inchs tall, on 651 vinyl, i dont know what the other quotes were that he got. I did install it for him too. Thanks!

A local shop in Baltimore suburbs would have charged $175. installed.

(I have seen their quote sheet on a door-window install just like this one, and that's their rate)

I need to commute to work I guess. Tells the difference in price between a metro area and me right in the heart of nowhere. I would of got around $40-$50 if close by. If more than 10 minutes away I'd charge 1 way travel.

If he offered you a xtra $20 on top of $40 I would say somewhere at $120 he was paying. since he's a friend ask him how much.

I'd love to have easy jobs like that all day long for $50.

One thing about the sign business...there are plenty of people who will rip people off on the smaller jobs just because they can.

If they packaged it with business cards, shirts, etc. that sign may have been included for $15-$20. All depends on the situation but at $40 I'd be 1/2 the price of any shop close to me.

What total time was involved in layout, cut, weed and install? You have very little in material so you probably made 50 bucks after gas and expenses so if you was a hour you made 50.00 an hour

He had the logo, however I had to clean it up ALOT in order to cut it... I probably had 1-2 hours in cleaning the art logo up(I'm new lol), and the office was about 25 miles away,

Are you happy with what you made? If yes then you charged enough.

Looks simple enough. For a friend I would have done it for $50. Maybe $75 for others.

Works for me. Rather be happy than rich and miserable.

Not everyone is driven by greed.

That is one of the problems with the world today especially our country most equate money to happiness money is a necessity to survive in todays world as most people is not self sufficent at all any more. I would take a small farm, a few cattle, chickens fresh water and plenty of room for raising food and my loved ones, over money any day. That is probably the best feeling in the world is putting up a good crop and butchering a hog and maybe a beef and knowing your family will be feed for another year.....that is how it is on a farm. That was the way I was raised we had very, little cash but was rich just the same.

You misunderstood my statement.

Im not talking about greed...im talking about running a successful business..which in order to remain in business you must make a profit.

I love making graphics and cutting decals...if I could I would do it all for free..but if I did that then im losing money and or its not a business but a hobby.

Thats all im saying.

Yes as long as he is happy with what he got paid but if u do the math and if the math results conclude he lost money..then if he kept doing things like that then he will not be making a profit.

There is a difference between making a profit and greed.

I feel the same way.

I was raised on a farm also. We still butcher a few beef and hogs every year. We put out huge gardens and can and freeze enough food to feed a small army every year.

We give away large amounts of produce every year to friends

.

I have low rates and stay busy where the higher prices places aren't as busy.

Everything I have house, land, cars, trucks etc is paid for so I don't need to charge rates that make people think do I really need that. Most in my area aren't to well off so I charge according to the income for the area.

GC, If the prices are too low you stop being happy when you start going under and you adjust the price to maintain happiness. People keep telling me I don't charge enough for screen printing but I'm happy and the bills are paid but it isn't always easy to find that happy balance.
