K1dR0b 0 Posted May 31, 2014 I've looked and looked for an inexpensive - and the key word is INEXPENSIVE - mylar cutter for creating airbrush stencils. I have no interest in cutting vinyl or fabric or paper - just mylar stencils. I don't need a giant either - Legal Size would be fine, but if a bigger one is a value, then okay. I don't want to spend no more than $300.00 if possible - INCLUDING shipping. Its my understanding that 500 grams of downforce should do the trick. So, what cutters are my options? mb20music 760 Posted May 31, 2014 The value cutters do not have that much downforce pressure. The cheapest cutter for that price that I can think of would be a used or refurbished Copam. USCutter has a 24" refurbished Copam machine listed on eBay right now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Copam-24-CP2500-Vinyl-Cutter-Sign-Plotter-Professional-REFURBISHED-/310966288110?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item486708feee The next option would be to spend $500 for the Titan 15" tabletop machine... http://www.uscutter.com/TITAN-15in-Table-Vinyl-Cutter
skarekrow 1,842 Posted May 31, 2014 US Cutter has stopped selling them but the Liyu TC has 800 grams of downforce (yes, 800!) The new price was $499 but maybe you can find a used one? I have cut the 10 mil sandblast resist with mine and cant imagine it haveing a problem with Mylar. You will need to cut it on a carrier sheet.
