Majestic

Recommended Posts

Been milling this one around for several months to either pay William or some other tallented person to digitize.  the problem is the old image is so detailed and detailed photos of high resolution just don't seem to exist that I can find.  thinking it would take a real artist that can imagine what the brush strokes did look like.  It isn't for a customer but my dad has gotten into hit n miss engines after his 3rd heart attack (and 5th wife) thankfully slowing down on the full size windmills and gas pump restoration.   is this one that should even be pursued?   you know the old timers into this would know if a single hair was out of place or the wrong way .  . . .the reason I haven't gotten involved.  but it would be neat to see his face if it did come up.  Skeeter maybe in your dogpile you can find something more detailed?  this is the best I have done for something to even start with

always figured I was great with the old encyclopedia Britannica and have held my own on the internet but something high enough detail to get a real vector image from  (or even very large raster) that is clean totally eludes me.    would love to surprise him someday but really don't know where to turn on this one.  at 75 after the 3 attacks - he isn't getting any younger.

You might have better luck around Goshen, IN,   library, museum.etc. the Majestic factory was there.  ...   heck those patterns were made in my area.  Here is a little story.  And Deere & Company bought the business in 1918, for 2.1 million.  WOW a lot of money back then.

I was looking it over... a lot of detail missing and the problem is I would have to create those details anew.

May drift a bit from a faithful original. I will play with it tomorrow on the tablet and see what I can do.

How are you feeling about the direction yours is heading?

Would you want corrections made or strickly as provided from original?

...for instance, the "signature" on the mascots right ear?

There are also some small issues with the perspective on the receeding side of the mouth.

You want that cleaned up or as shown?

Wait a minute... the other (top image) is the Original ?

May have better chance of reproducing him.

god only knows what is original and even if the ones the guy said he had for sale are faithful reproductions - maybe there are 2 different versions of the logo - I am personally not enough into it to know and research has been tough to say the least .  it is one of those things that a person has to be able to see the intent or what it might have been like in restoration work,  it has baffled me for so long it has just remained on the back burner but dad isn't getting any older so I thought i would bounce it off the gang here.  I always say we are stronger as a group and sometimes someone will just look at it differently and things will pop up.  he more I look for a basic shape to start and patterns within I get lost on this one so I am sure it takes someone with a more artistic mind,

on the ones the guy had for sale - the email is no longer valid - tried that a couple months ago

will try the phone number in the next couple of days - will be curious if the details are any better if he is still kicking.  problem with the old guys that still collect these is they don't "hang around" a lot of years.   going to be gone late tonight so probably another night as I bet I will be very tired when i get home from Ann Arbor/Detroit area.  Stacey has a headache specialist she goes to and for some reason is taking me so I am going to try to buy that plotter over there.  don't know why she would have headaches

That's what I understood and I wanna help you out.

My only problem is time. I have 3 sizable projects to complete before Monday

and a brother and a brother-in-law coming into town this weekend.

Been slammed here this week and very very tired . . . I totally understand. Running between the printer and cutter projects. Now got the new cutter online with a temp computer as the old cutter computer didn't like it but the spare printer computer didn't have a problem, soooooooo. Now when I get a moment going to figure that one out

Here is my rendition. Not real happy with the lion, he's just a trace. I did two versions of the lion, both have a black background. There is a lot of artistic interpretation involved with the text. I had to send this in svg due to file size, PM me if you want a different file format.

Ya I didn't even touch up the lion so you will probably still have to mess with it.

dad keeps getting into heavier hobbies after 3 heart attacks - we have been thru gas pumps, farm windmills and now hit n miss engines in the last 10-12 years.   now you would think he would go lighter but Nooooooooo

I lost my dad when I was 23 so I envy you. Enjoy every minute you have.

Love him dearly, actually wish we was closer. Long tough history but I do cherish the times we are together getting along. I went with him last summer when he bought the majestic engine. Not my cup of tea but we all have different hobbies.

Planning on a little more cleanup to the mascot tomorrow eve.

I'll post the complete files then.

Looked like it belonged on a black mat to me.
