What is the name of this vinyl?

Recommended Posts

We are happy with our US Cutter purchase. The package arrived with a large variety of vinyl rolls. One is black and it has a yellow vinyl backing. It seems a little thinker than some of the other samples - and is of higher quality. I'd like to purchase more but I don't know what it is called. I submitted a request to US Cutter via their Customer Service popup. After several hours without a reply I moved on to other tasks. Therefore I'm turning to members of this BB for an answer.

Thanks.

BTW Compounder. Thicker does not equal higher quality in the vinyl industry. Just the opposite is actually true. Tougher may fit the description and for some applications may be true. I have used thicker vinyl on the side of a dump truck that was prone to having lots of gravel dropped on it for instance. The thin stuff (Cast - premium) is the good stuff.

Sounds like Wildgoose nailed it - if it's got a yellow backing, then it almost has to be the GreenStar banner material which isn't intended to be used as decal material and is quite expensive.

A 24" x 25 yard roll is $89.99 which is the same price as Oracal 751, which is a premium/performance vinyl, and is twice the price of Oracal 651 which is also superior to GreenStar (a 24" x 50 yard roll of Oracal 651 is $86.69).

I use Oracal 651 for just about everything. Also, if you ever want to make banners you can buy blank ones on the cheap and apply your lettering.

Thanks. Clearly I'm new at this and the number of starter rolls added to some confusion - and I see there weren't any Oracal samples in the pack. Perhaps it's time to get more serious and look at the better quality supplies. I appreciate the candid responses to my question.
