Epson WorkForce 30 from CIS?

Recommended Posts

Ya it's affordable and works good. The only complaint is the limited size of paper. There are times that I would like to have the bigger sheets. I have found that if you are real careful you can print onto two sheets and layer them together with some thin tape on the back and get a decent larger image (with JPSS on light shirts, doubt that would work on darks)

The printer is great and the ink is very affordable from Cobraink. I do find that with the pigment ink you have to use it regularly or you will get clogged heads and spend an average of 3-5 cleaning cycles to get them worked out.

I assume you're talking about for Sublimation, since this is the Sublimation forum, right?

Any of the Epson WF line should work fine for sublimation with CISS.  The only drawback to the WF30 is going to be the size of the paper you can put through it.  If you're only wanting to sublimate small items like lighters, koozies, etc., then you'll be fine with a letter size printer.

If you're wanting to do larger things - 12" tiles, cake pan lids, garden flags, etc., then you'll want to look at a larger printer like the WF1100, the 1400 series, the 7000 or 7500 series that will do up to 13x19" transfers.  You'll spend a little more money, but the additional flexibility will more than make up for it.

You do need to regularly send test pages or nozzle checks through the printers (I do a minimum of once per week) to keep the heads from drying out with the Epson printers, but it's not horribly difficult to clean them if they do dry out, and as long as you're using the CISS kit it isn't as painful to your wallet to do a lot of test prints and head cleanings.   All three of my printers are Epson WF series and all of them are connected to Google Cloud Print so I can send my test pages from anywhere with WiFi or cell signal coverage, so I can even send test pages when I'm out of town.  I keep a test PDF file on my phone and tablet for that purpose.
