derkdaigler 7 Posted April 12, 2014 Is this oramask 813 the best all around stencil mask for curved and flat surfaces. Ill be doing just airbrush no decals. I have my plotter picked out just wana be sure on the proper vinyl.
skarekrow 1,842 Posted April 12, 2014 I haven't used the 813 but don't think it's gonna work so well with curved surfaces. Are we talking soft curves like car fender? Tight like helmets? I think you want the 810 or the 810s (for solvent based use). http://www.uscutter.com/ORAMASK-810-Spray-Mask-Stencil I do like the 811 for stretched linen though. sluggo2u 32 Posted April 13, 2014 I'm using 810 for stencils on scale model airplanes. Works well.
derkdaigler 7 Posted April 13, 2014 I typically use water based airbrush paint only seldom do i use solvent based
skarekrow 1,842 Posted April 13, 2014 Though I dont have the specs on them, the Auto Air and Wicked Colors (from Createx) as well as the reducer for them likely have enough solvents in them to warrent the extra protection.
derkdaigler 7 Posted April 13, 2014 Really thats interesting. So is either one good for helmets and flat surfaces . I know that helmets are pretty extreme but just an example
skarekrow 1,842 Posted April 13, 2014 On Helmets, I've used both Wicked and the Auto Air, finished with urethane with good results. What type 'flat surface'? On stretched linen canvas, the regular Createx works well.
