JohnnyChopps1 1 Posted February 24, 2014 Hello all, noob here. I live in Southern Cali where the sun is merciless and the weather is hot. I'd like to apply vinyl to outdoor glass and was wondering what kind will be best suitable for my needs. I don't want my work to peel off the same year I do it. Any suggestions? Thanks! FrznFire07 217 Posted February 24, 2014 oracal 751 or 3M, we both extensively and we are in one of the few spots in the country where the UV is so bad 3M actually adjusts their warranty period for us. in any case you should get 3-4 years out of your vinyl if you are in direct south facing sun/UV. Watch out for reflective, with high UV it tends to "burn" rather quickly. (2-3 years max).
JohnnyChopps1 1 Posted February 24, 2014 Is reflective opposed to flat? Like glossy vs. flat or matte?
darcshadow 1,626 Posted February 25, 2014 Reflective is the stuff on cop cars and other emergency vehicles. Looks "normal" in the day but lights up at night when light hits it.
FrznFire07 217 Posted February 25, 2014 reflective has small bits of glass in the vinyl so it lights up when headlights hit it.
Coaster36 327 Posted February 25, 2014 Would 951 be better? According to my oracal book 951: 12 years for black and white and 10 years for colors 751: 8 years for black and white and 7 for colors.
